Story tools:

A 33-year-old Buffalo man who was shot Thursday afternoon on the 300 block of Leroy Avenue has died from his wounds and an arrest has been made in the shooting, Buffalo police said Friday.

Alexis Harper of Highgate Avenue died just before midnight Thursday in Erie County Medical Center, Chief of Detectives Dennis Richards said.

Harper was shot in the abdomen at about 5:30 p. m. Thursday on Leroy Avenue between Holden Street and Richlawn Avenue.

Anthony Dean, 19, of Leroy Avenue, was arrested late Thursday and charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.

The attempted murder charge has been, or soon will be, upgraded to a murder charge, Richards said.

Tenaya Richardson, 16, of Hagen Street, was shot in the leg during the incident and also was taken to ECMC, where she was treated and released.
