Black Creek man hurt in Hinsdale SUV crash

HINSDALE — A Black Creek man was being treated in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, on Tuesday after after his vehicle crashed on Route 446 in Hinsdale, Cattaraugus County sheriff’s officials said.

Clifford J. Oakes, 24, was driving his SUV west near Cuba Lake Road just before 7:30 a. m., when he veered off the right shoulder of the road and into a ditch. The vehicle struck a driveway and went airborne before overturning and coming to rest on its roof in a nearby field.

Oakes was freed from the wreckage by firefighters and flown by Mercy Flight to ECMC. Hospital officials were unavailable to update his condition late Tuesday.
