Benefit planned to aid those routed by apartment fire

VARYSBURG — A benefit is being planned to assist residents of six units of a Varysburg apartment building that was destroyed by fire Dec. 31, officials announced Friday.

The benefit will be held at 1 p. m. Jan. 17 in the Varysburg Hotel. A $10 donation is requested. Proceeds of the benefit will go toward helping those displaced by the fire, which broke out at 11 p. m. Wednesday in a seven-unit apartment building on Main Street.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
