Suspect returned to U. S. after tip from TV show

Story tools:

A man wanted for attempted murder in Ohio more than 11 years ago was turned over to U. S. Customs and Border Protection in Niagara Falls on Wednesday.

Chi Quang Du, 38, was wanted for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend and her male friend on the Wright State University campus in Dayton, Ohio, in 1997. Both survived the attack.

The case was featured on “America’s Most Wanted” last year. In December, the TV show received a tip that Du was working at an electronics boutique in Mississauga, Ont., according to the show’s Web site.

Police in Canada looked into it and picked up Du last week on immigration violations. He was returned to the United States on Wednesday, arrested by customs officers and turned over to the Niagara Falls Police Department pending extradition to Ohio.
