Youth charged with DWI after car theft, crash
JAMESTOWN — Two 16-year-old youths went on a joy ride that turned ugly early Sunday morning, when the car they stole crashed and overturned, leading to a DWI charge against the driver, Jamestown police reported.
An officer on patrol discovered the accident at about 1:40 a. m. on Marvin Parkway at the city line. Officers charged the driver, whose name they didn’t release, with DWI, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation and other counts.
The car was heavily damaged, and both youths were taken to WCA Hospital, where they were treated and released. Police said both youths were wearing seat belts, and the air bags deployed, preventing more serious injury.
