More layoffs at Microsoft
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) —Microsoft Corp. has begun a second round of layoffs as part of a plan to cut 5,000 jobs—and Chief Executive Steve Ballmer strongly hinted that more positions could be eliminated in light of the economic downturn.
Shares of the software behemoth fell 2 percent to $19.79 Tuesday after Ballmer sent an e-mail to employees saying the second phase of the job reduction plan had begun.
