Bulletin Board: Notes and events
Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Spencer Johnson is hosting the Amazing Race Buffalo at 2 p.m. Saturday at Erie Community College's North Campus in Amherst.
The event, based on the popular television show, will have teams of four individuals racing along a course that includes a series of fun-filled, educational pit stops that involve a combination of skill, intellect and teamwork. At each pit stop, teams will be directed to perform a task, as a team or by a single member, before advancing. Tasks include relays, brain teasers, constructing and sports. The team that finishes all the challenges and reports back to the final check point first wins.
The winners will receive 20 tickets to a Bills game as guests of Johnson. There also will be a special prize for the person wearing the best Halloween costume. The event will include a live auction and silent auction of Bills memorabilia.
The event is limited to the first 50 teams that sign up. Fans may register individually for $25 or as a foursome for $100. The events are for junior high and high school aged children. Proceeds to benefit the Spencer Johnson Adopt-A-High-School Academic Initiative, which offers academic and SAT/ACT assistance to underserved students in area schools.
