Buffalo Bills alumni and former coaches will conduct an “Intro to Football” course on four Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p. m. at the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society at Nottingham Court and Elmwood Avenue. Moderators for sessions—which cost $12 each or $40 for all four—are former receivers Lou Piccone and Charley Ferguson. The schedule: Sept. 22—Offensive and defensive lines: Al Bemiller, Jim McNally and Ken Jones. Sept. 29—Quarterbacks and running backs: Ed Rutkowski, Will Fowler and Joe Kulbacki. This October marks 50 years since the first Kenmore East-Kenmore West football game. At this year’s game Oct. 17, all those who ever played, including members of the Kenmore High School teams, are invited back to celebrate the spirit of competition between the schools. The first two teams will be honored during pregame ceremonies, accompanied by all those who played for both East and West during the subsequent years. Festivities will begin on Friday evening with the Kenmore West Hall of Fame induction ceremonies at Sean Patrick’s, 3480 Millersport Hwy, Amherst. West players are also invited to Malone’s (3020 Delaware Ave.) and East players to Caputi’s (on 2351 Sheridan Drive) for pre-game festivities. Saturday will begin with a picnic at Crosby Field at noon. Prior to kickoff the original teams will line up and the two original captains will serve as honorary captains for the game. Players from teams throughout the years will line up behind the original teams. After the game, a party for all will be held at Caputi’s. Commemorative jerseys for Kenmore High, Kenmore East and Kenmore West players will be available from Sorrentino’s Sporting Goods.
