Good Morning, Buffalo: A quick look at what's happening today
It doesn't look like Friday the 13th out there. The sun is shining. The air is getting balmier. What could go wrong? Weather-wise, nothing much today. The National Weather Service promises highs in the mid to upper 50s and a few clouds tonight, with lows staying well above the freezing mark for a change.
On Saturday, however, we're in for some clouds, courtesy of Tropical Storm Ida, which is soaking down the East Coast. A few Ida sprinkles may fall on us, too, but only a few. It should be the warmest day of the weekend, with a high near 60. Sunday is forecast to be much the same, only a couple of degrees cooler. Temperatures rachet down a little more after that. The forecast calls for highs near 50 all next week, with sunny skies on Monday and Tuesday, followed by a couple of days of showers. At least it won't be snow.
They're thinking snow all the time down at Kissing Bridge in Glenwood. This weekend, they're getting ready for the inevitable with the annual Kissing Bridge Ski Patrol Ski/Snowboard swap and open house in the Central Area lodge. Hours are noon to 9:30 p.m. today, 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The race for Orchard Park town supervisor was too close to call on Election Night. Janis Colarusso, the current town clerk, led retired dentist Patrick J. Keem by 109 votes, but there were more than 170 absentee ballots to be tabulated. Today they get counted.
