Same burglars suspected in two Amherst incidents

Story tools:

The same burglars apparently broke into a Sweet Home Road residential garage and attempted to break into a neighbor's home over the weekend, Amherst police reported today.

In the first reported burglary, which occurred overnight Saturday and was reported Sunday, someone broke into a garage on the west side of Sweet Home, between Sheridan Drive and Maple Road, and stole four dirt-bike motorcycles, police said.

Later Sunday, neighbors within a few doors of the first burglary victim reported that someone had kicked at their door a few times without gaining entry.

Amherst detectives say they're virtually certain that the same person or people were responsible for both crimes.
