A Buffalo man who remains in critical condition at the Erie County Medical Center was one of three people shot early today in separate incidents across the city.

Ismael Martinez, 26, of East Ferry Street, was shot in the face and lower back. He was undergoing treatment in the hospital's trauma unit early this afternoon, according to police and hospital officials.

Martinez was shot just before 2 a.m. as he sat in a vehicle parked at Congress Street and Potomac Avenue, on the city's West Side, by a man who approached and asked where he could get marijuana, Buffalo police reported. He was taken by Rural/Metro Medical Services ambulance to ECMC.

The first shooting occurred just after midnight at Zelmer and Doat streets, near Schiller Park, when a Sprenger Avenue man was approached by two men wearing hoodies that obscured their faces.

Christopher S. Chillis, whose age wasn't given, told police one of the men fired two shots at him, striking him in the right hand.

The victim was treated at Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus, Cheektowaga.

In the last shooting, Marcus Cheatham, whose age and address weren't provided, was shot at 3:50 a.m. as he left Pandora's sports bar and restaurant, 2261 Fillmore Ave. at Victoria Avenue.

Cheatham ran from the scene, ending up on Rodney Avenue before someone drove him to ECMC.

He was shot several times in the left arm and was treated and released from the hospital's emergency room.
