Holley man, 19, killed in Orleans County collision
A 19-year-old Orleans County man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night that also sent two people to a Rochester hospital, Orleans County sheriff's officials said.
Austin J. Boyd, 19, of Holley, a front-seat passenger in the car driven by his father, was pronounced dead at the scene in the Town of Clarendon after he was extricated from the car.
Investigators said Boyd's father, Ronald E. Boyd, 50, was eastbound on Route 31A at about 9:20 p.m., when his car was struck by a northbound car on South Holley Road driven by James R. Renfrew, 55, of Holley.
A preliminary investigation suggests that Renfrew failed to stop at the stop sign, with his vehicle striking the right side of Boyd's car. The impact forced both vehicles off the road and into a residential yard.
Renfrew and Ronald Boyd were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Sheriff's officials said neither alcohol nor unsafe speed appears to be a contributing factor.
