Olcott man's hot tub break disturbed by careless hunters
OLCOTT - A 62-year-old man told Niagara County sheriff's deputies that he was hit with birdshot while in his hot tub in the 1600 block of Lockport-Olcott Road on Sunday afternoon.
The man told deputies that hunters along Eighteen Mile Creek below his home discharged their firearms toward his house and the home of a female neighbor at 4 p.m.
Both houses were hit by the birdshot but were not damaged. However, the man said that while he was in his hot tub he was hit by a BB. Deputies said the victim declined medical attention.
Deputies said a search for three male hunters in camouflage was unsuccessful.
The man and a woman said this has been an ongoing problem. Deputies asked the state Department of Environmental Conservation for periodic checks of the area.
