Good morning, Buffalo: A quick look at what's happening today
It's going to be partly sunny and warmer today, which can only mean one thing. It's Monday. The rest of the work week looks like a mix of sunshine and thick fall clouds, with high temperatures approaching 60 degrees, until wind and rain roars back — as the weekend approaches. So if you have some free time today, you may want to go for a walk at the Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve on Honorine Drive in Cheektowaga, Tifft Nature Preserve at 1200 Fuhrmann Blvd. in Lackawanna, or Wilson-Tuscorora Park along Lake Ontario in Wilson. There are plenty of golden fall colors to breath in.

It's also the week where fright blends with fun. Let's start with the fright. If you live in the region's biggest town and have been following the rancor of its budget process, the arguments could be settled at 7 p.m. tonight, when the Amherst Town Board holds a special meeting in the town municipal building, 5583 Main St. The Town Board is scheduled to vote on the budget during the meeting.

Those looking to get scared for different reasons can head over to the Clearfield Library, 770 Hopkins Road, Williamsville, where, at 6:30 p.m., the Halloween Safety Magic Show with Mr. J takes place. Reservations are required by calling 688-4955.
• • •
There also will be magic going on starting at 5 p.m. at Danny's South, 4300 Abbott Road in Orchard Park, as Mike Seege works tableside.
• • •
Suspense also is on the menu at 7:30 p.m. at the Daemen College Wick Center, 4380 Main St., where "Diabolique" will be shown as part of the school's "Suspense on Screen" film series. The price is right, too: free.

At 7 p.m., retired journalist Bob Kostoff will talk about the "Hidden History of Greater Niagara," at the North Tonawanda History Museum, 54 Webster St.; the talk also is free.
• • •
If you feel like singing today, the Lock City Glee Club has just the thing for you. The group gets together at 7 p.m. in Christ Episcopal Church, Rochester Road and Fieldcrest Drive, Lockport. New members are welcome.
• • •
If you can use a lift, every Monday a ministry team from churches throughout the Buffalo Niagara region uses God's word and training to assist anyone who is sick physically, emotionally or spiritually, from 7 to 9 p.m. in St. James United Church of Christ, 4661 Porter Road, Niagara Falls. No fee and no appointment necessary. Appointments can also be made by calling 884-0048.

Meanwhile, enjoy the nice weather while it lasts.
