Having experienced English pubs while visiting England, I was a bit reluctant to get overly excited about one on this side of the Atlantic. But, to my pleasant surprise, this new Lewiston spot did not disappoint. In fact, except for the large-screen televisions — featuring a repeat of a Yankees game, a women’s slow-pitch softball game and a NASCAR race — I felt bloody well at home. Why?

But keep walking past the counter, and you will enter a bright dining room full of comfy booths and tables with quick and efficient table service. That’s where Ruth, Dan, John and I settled in for dinner on a recent Saturday.

It has been open for a couple of months or so in the building that once housed Osaka and Vado Pazzo. It is under the same ownership as an adjoining bar called Sangria — you can reach Sangria through its own entrance or through the restaurant itself.
