NORTH TONAWANDA – The North Tonawanda Common Council is accepting resumés to fill a pending vacancy of the alderman-at-large position that will open when Alderwoman Nancy A. Donovan steps down from the post Aug. 5.
Any North Tonawanda resident interested in interviewing for the post of alderman-at-large is asked to submit a resumé to the City Clerk-Treasurer’s Office.
The deadline for submitting resumés is July 19, and interviews will be conducted July 23, starting at 7 p.m.
Earlier this year, Donovan announced she would not seek re-election when her term expired at the end of the year, but last Friday she said she would step down earlier because “I have a level of expectation for myself that I simply cannot meet anymore.”
Donovan, a Republican, spent two years on the Common Council as the 3rd Ward alderwoman before being elected alderwoman-at-large in 2009.
Prior to serving on the Common Council she served two terms on the North Tonawanda School Board.
She said she is preparing to retire from her position in finance at Independent Health and plans to spend more time with her children who live in Maryland.
