A Batavia man has been identified as the victim of Monday afternoon’s fatal collision involving two trucks near Rochester.
Shawn Wetmore, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred at about 1 p.m. in the Town of Brighton. State Police said he was traveling north on Route 590 when another driver lost control of a tanker truck traveling from the westbound Interstate 490 to the Route 590 southbound exit ramp.
The tanker, carrying liquid food wastes, rolled over the ramp’s concrete barrier and fell onto the northbound lanes of Route 590, hitting Wetmore’s truck, troopers said.
The tanker was driven by Daniel Baker, 25, of Wyoming, N.Y. Troopers said he suffered a dislocated hip when was ejected from his truck. Baker was listed in satisfactory condition this morning at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
