‘Fitness in the Parks’ runs through Aug. 31
Get moving this summer with Independent Health and YMCA of Buffalo Niagara’s “Fitness in the Parks,” a free program that runs through Aug. 31, designed to encourage all Western New Yorkers to stay on track with their fitness goals.
“Fitness in the Parks” at Artpark, from 10 to 11 a.m., will feature Pilates on Wednesdays and Zumba on Saturdays in the Lower Park (use the Fourth Street entrance). No registration is required. Ronald McDonald run/walk July 31
The Ronald McDonald House of Buffalo 5K Run/Walk will take place July 31.
Named the 2013 Buffalo News “Runner of the Year Race,” the run/walk starts at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Ronald McDonald House on West Ferry Street. Children age 8 and younger can register from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for a free drawing for three Fisher-Price gift baskets. The Scott Celani Band will entertain runners at a post-run party until 9:30 p.m.
Fees for runners are $25 in advance and $30 on race day. Same-day registration runs from noon to the start of the race at the Ronald McDonald House. Race packets for those who have preregistered may be picked up from noon to 7 p.m. July 29 and 30 and noon to 6:30 p.m. July 31. Admission for the post-race party for those not racing is $5. Breast cancer group sets gold outing
The Breast Cancer Network of Western New York’s annual golf outing and luncheon is July 27 at Rothland Golf Course, 12292 Clarence Center Road, Akron.
