Kid Rock has made a career out of rummaging through rock and pop’s back pages. He is a rather brilliant collage artist whose unabashed fandom of everyone from Bob Seger to Lynyrd Skynyrd to Run-DMC has provided him with the raw materials to craft major hits of his own.
In addition to his craftsman’s eye for the reconfiguration of the raw materials of others, Rock has also consistently spoken his mind on whatever issue the press throws in front of him for comment. This can be either hilarious or offensive, depending on who you ask, and what the topic is.
Rock has also long championed the virtues of the working class, where his own roots lead. For this summer’s tour, Rock conjured a “one price, all in” scheme that cemented ticket prices at $24. Considering that Rock and his band never fail to put on anything less than a high-energy, passionate and fully invested performance – and that the bill also includes Kool and the Gang and Uncle Kracker – Friday’s Kid Rock gig at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center could be the low-dough show of the summer (Ticketmaster).
