A series of detours will go into effect Wednesday at the intersection of Routes 5, 20 and 438 on the Cattaraugus Territory of the Seneca Nation of Indians, just north of the Chautauqua County line, the state Department of Transportation reported.
The detours will remain in effect through mid-September while a new traffic circle is installed at the intersection.
Motorists northbound on Route 438 heading for the combined Routes 5 and 20 westbound and Route 5 eastbound will be directed to a route along Route 20 eastbound and Mile Strip Road.
Motorists eastbound on the combined Routes 5 and 20 heading for Route 20 eastbound will be sent along Route 5 eastbound and Mile Strip Road.
Motorists westbound on Route 20 will be sent on Mile Strip Road to westbound Route 5. A temporary traffic signal will be installed at Route 5 and Mile Strip Road while the detours are in effect.
