Sales are up at Wegmans Food Stores, according to a ranking by a major retail trade association.

The Rochester-based grocer appeared in 60th place in the National Retail Federation’s annual list of the “Top 100 Retailers,” with sales of $6.7 billion in 2012. That’s an 8.7 percent increase over 2011.

Trader Joe’s was ranked 53rd, and Whole Foods was ranked 35th. The top three retailers were Walmart ($328.7 billion), Kroger ($92 billion) and Target ($71.96 billion).

Last year, Wegmans ranked 65th.
