BATAVIA – Two new developments have led to a pair of political contests on the Genesee County political scene.
Esther G. Leadly, who was denied the Republican endorsement for another term as county legislator from the district representing Alexander, Bethany and Pavilion, will run on as-yet-undetermined line against the GOP choice, Gregory Torrey of Bethany. Leadly, who lives in Pavilion, said she did not want a primary because of the expense on taxpayers. She must gather signatures on a petition to qualify as a candidate for a post she has held since 1999.
Meanwhile, in the City of Batavia, the new Genesee County Libertarian Party has nominated two candidates for councilman-at-large. James Rosenbeck and Liza Whitehead will run against incumbent Brooks M. Hawley and newcomers Eugene A. Jankowski and John Deleo. The party is not affiliated with regional or state Libertarians, according to Chairman Philip Ricci.
