City of Tonawanda

The City of Tonawanda Democratic Committee has endorsed Rick Davis for mayor, Paul Brunner for First Ward Council, Jackie Smilinich for Second Ward, incumbent Richard A Slisz for Third Ward and Jenna N. Koch for Fourth Ward.

“Our committee is pleased and proud to offer the voters of Tonawanda a dedicated, wellrounded, diverse slate of candidates for their consideration and we look forward to an excellent campaign by all of them,” committee chair Gayle Syposs said in a release.

• The 16th annual Weekend on the Niagara Arts and Craft Show continues today from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. along the Niagara River.

• The City of Tonawanda Common Council will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Tonawanda City Hall, 200 Niagara Street.

• The city’s Community Spring Fest sponsored by the Youth Board and the GHH Memorial Fund will be held Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at Ives Pond and GHH Community Skate Park at the corner of Elgin and York Streets. The event will feature volleyball, soccer and kickball matches open to Tonawanda High School students. Rosters are available in the Athletic Director’s office. Call 930-9764 for more information. An all-ages bikes, boards and other competitions will also be held. Participants must register for $5 to compete in all events. Call 693-9407 for more information.
