Six unique homes in Lewiston and Youngstown, boasting everything from old-fashioned tin ceilings to modern wet bars, will be paired with local restaurants and decorators, and will be featured in the Tour of Kitchens, planned for Saturday and next Sunday.

Tours are held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, and a portion of the event’s proceeds benefit the Historical Association of Lewiston and the Town of Porter Historical Society.

The homes on this fifth annual tour include: a remodeled 1853 Lewiston home; a French cottage on the banks of the Niagara River; an 1850s Youngstown farmhouse; a completely renovated home in Youngstown Estates; and two homes adjacent to Niagara Falls Country Club.

Each home is paired with a local restaurant that invites ticket-holders to sample its signature dishes. Tour patrons will taste the Town Hall American Bistro’s jambalaya pasta; Wegmans’ chilled lobster bisque with sweet pepper coulis; the Brickyard Pub and BBQ’s Brunswick stew with cornbread; and the Red Coach Inn’s pear salad wrap and Mediterranean flank steak.

In addition, Raclettes’ cassoulet and Italian raclette will be featured; as well as the White Linen Tea House’s berry salad and cream of mushroom soup; Water Street Landing Restaurant’s Malibu spiced rum cocktail and Thai chicken slider; and assorted desserts from the Village Bake Shoppe and DiCamillo’s Bakery.

Each home also is paired with a decorator or tablescape artist, who will design “an artful way of setting a table for guests.”

Tablescapes will be created by the following designers: A-1 Land Care; Julie Muscato Interior Design; Pallister House Florist; Vanderpool:design; Michelle J. Hook Custom Interior Sewing; Rooms Re-Created by Tasia; Creations by Colleen; Sue Pell; Pottery Barn; Piccirillo’s Florist; Kathleen Fischbein Design LLC; Summertime Blooms; The Country Doctor; and Le Creuset. “This tour is attractive to anyone who is a ‘foodie’ and likes to try new restaurants because they get to try samples from nine different restaurants in one day, and it’s also attractive to those who like to entertain in their homes, because they come away with amazing decorating and tablescape ideas,” said organizer Sandy Hayes Mies.

In between visiting the homes, ticket-holders will be invited to a reception to taste wines from Supermarket Liquors and Wines and sample desserts from DiCamillo’s and the Village Bake Shoppe at the Barton Hill Hotel and Spa, 100 Center St., Lewiston. Patrons will be able to meet with sponsors and shop for jewelry and culinary items at the new vendor and jewelry market off the hotel’s main lobby.

The event’s presenting sponsor is Kinetic Kitchen and Bath.

Silver Spoon Sponsors include: CFM Stone Surfaces; Orville’s Home Appliances; Niagara Falls Culinary Institute; Barton Hill Hotel and Spa; The Village Bake Shoppe; DiCamillo’s Bakery; Fittante Architecture P.C.; Niagara Frontier Publications; Great Lakes Real Estate; Supermarket Liquors and Wines; and Wegmans of Niagara Falls.

Tickets are $27 and may be purchased at Lewiston’s DiCamillo’s Bakery and the Village Bake Shoppe, all Wegmans locations or online at www.TourofKitchens.net. Call 628-9583 for more information.

While this event usually sells out, any tickets still left on the weekend will be available for purchase only at the Tour of Kitchens Tent on the corner of Center and First streets, Lewiston.
