First Niagara Financial Group named Jeanneen V. Griffin to serve as first vice president and team leader for commercial real estate lending for the bank’s New England and Tri-State regions. Griffin, who was with People’s United Bank, will be based in First Niagara’s New England Regional Market Center in New Haven, Conn.
The following faculty members of Roswell Park Cancer Institute received grant funding totaling more than $3.3 million from federal agencies and other sources: Dr. Yuesheng Zhang, professor of oncology in the department of chemoprevention, a five-year, $1.7 million grant award from the National Institutes of Health; Dr. John Blessing, executive director, gynecology oncology group statistical and data center, one-year subcontract award of $300,552 from the GOG and the National Cancer Institute; Kenneth Gross, chairman of the department of molecular and cellular biology; Dominic Smiraglia, associate professor of oncology in the department of cancer genetics; and Norma Nowak, associate professor of oncology in the department of cancer genetics, a two-year, $290,839 grant from the NCI; Smiraglia also received a two-year, $165,000 grant from the American Institute for Cancer Research; Dr. Santosh Patnaik, assistant professor, department of thoracic surgery, two-year year grant of $241,931 from the NCI.

DeGraff Memorial Hospital and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital have received the Get With the Guidelines–Heart Failure Gold Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association.
