Moog Inc. has been picked to supply the primary flight control system for Embraer’s second generation E-Jet passenger aircraft now under development, the Elma motion control equipment maker said Monday.

Moog did not disclose the potential value of the contract, which calls for the company to provide flight control computers and software, along with flight control acuators and control electronics for the passenger jet.

The new planes will succeed Embraer’s E-170 and E-190 aircraft and are expected to have the capacity to carry between 78 to 122 passengers, once they begin flying, possibly sometime in 2018.
