The Buffalo News invited school board candidates to provide a statement about why they are running for office.

Having turned 80 this year and completing 35 years on the Board of Education has caused me to say THANK YOU for allowing me to be your and your children’s Education Advocate as a School Board Member. As I am sure you know, Education, Schools, Learning, and Teaching are changing day by day. Education is being challenged at every Governmental level (i.e., Federal mandates, State regulations, local tax efforts, etc.).

In a few weeks you will be selecting (voting) for two School Board positions. Please examine the credentials of all those seeking election (including myself). Look at their experience, their common sense, their ability, their commitment, their educational priorities, their community and family expectations and any other qualifications that you consider to be important to be a Board member.

I also know that serving on a school board is an honor as well as a huge personal responsibility.

Please consider my educational experience, my ability, my commitment to our community when you cast your vote May 21.

Please consider returning me to your Board of Education.

Again, I echo a loud THANK YOU in anticipation of your support.

Please “spread the word” to your family and friends to vote for kids on May 21.
