District attorney is right to honor Parete’s wishes

I am writing in response to the May 3 letter, “Parete’s death should have elicited a murder charge.” Did the writer read the entire article or just the first two sentences?

The District Attorney’s Office did not bring new charges against the dirt bag who shot and perhaps ultimately killed Police Officer Patricia Parete at her request. I’m sure she was thinking of her family and friends who would have to sit though a trial for someone who is never going to get out anyway. Why bring up more heartache?
