Coming attractions

• It is a major week for the baseball powers that call ECIC I home. On Wednesday, Clarence plays at Orchard Park, and on Friday, Clarence hosts Lancaster while OP heads to Williamsville North. Today there are some clashes in ECIC II as Iroquois is at Williamsville South and Williamsville East is at Hamburg. There is some notable Niagara Frontier League action as well, including a Wednesday matchup of Grand Island at Niagara Falls. On Friday, Kenmore East and Kenmore West meet at Sheridan Park at 6:30 p.m. in the schools’ annual baseball-softball doubleheader (softball starts at 7). Saturday has a nice nonleaguer scheduled with Orchard Park playing at Hamburg at 1 p.m.

• In softball today, Depew plays at rival Maryvale. Wednesday’s lineup includes Hamburg at Williamsville North, Frontier at Lancaster, Clarence at Orchard Park in ECIC I, while in the Niagara Frontier League, Kenmore West plays at Niagara-Wheatfield. On Friday, Orchard Park plays at Hamburg. The weekend includes the usual excellent field at the Immaculata Tournament at the Nike Base in Hamburg.

• There are two top track and field meets starting at 4 p.m. Friday as Frontier hosts the Falcon Invitational, and Jamestown hosts the Joe Paterniti Memorial. On Saturday two main events begin up north at 9 a.m.: Niagara-Wheatfield’s Falcon Invitational and the Starpoint Spartans Team Challenge. Cheektowaga’s Little Four meet begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

• The New York State Scholastic Rowing Association Championships will be held Saturday and Sunday on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs. Most championship races are held Sunday following Saturday’s qualifying heats. Last year the Canisius senior, second and novice eights each took gold medals to qualify for the national championships.

• The ECIC Championships in boys tennis – with fields of 32 in both singles and doubles – will be Friday and Saturday at Sweet Home.
