The Town Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed purchase of 27.5 acres of vacant land on Sheridan Drive for $298,000, when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall, following a 6 p.m. work session. The land is east of Harris Hill Road, south of Sheridan, off Boncrest Drive West.

The board will also hold a public hearing on a request for a special-exception use permit for a new building planned for the Victoria Park commercial plaza, at 10225 Main St.

• A Planning Board executive meeting will be 9 a.m. Monday at Town Hall.

• The Clarence Women’s Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the Independent Health Family Branch YMCA, 150 Tech Drive in Amherst. Debra Grzybek will speak on the history of the Y, and there will be a guest speaker on health and wellness. Guests and new members are welcome.

• The Clarence Women’s Club will host its 50th annual Scholarship Card and Game Night at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Town Park Clubhouse. Call 759-9797 for details.

• The Ethics Board will meet at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday at Town Hall.

• The Clarence Historical Society will host a program, featuring Greg Kinal speaking about Thomas Jefferson, at 7 p.m. May 14 at the Town Park Clubhouse, 10405 Main St.

• Clarence United Methodist Church will host a concert by Friends of Harmony acapella chorus, singing “gold songs from the silver screen,” at 7 p.m. May 17 at the church’s gym and family life center, 10205 Greiner Road.

• Results of the townwide short-form survey, about residents’ likes and dislikes, are on the town’s website, www2.erie.gov/clarence. Parks and the bike path led the list of what residents loved; over-development topped the list of their dislikes. As for what residents would change about the town, an indoor recreation facility received the most votes, followed by slowing down development/limiting growth.
