Timely hitting helped the University at Buffalo baseball team edge rival Canisius College, 6-1, at Amherst Audubon Field on Wednesday.

Six UB pitchers combined to hold the Golden Griffins’ offense that entered the game batting .307 to just one run. Kyle Figgins had a pair of doubles, and Jon Mestas had a two-run single to lead UB (24-17) .

The Bulls led 3-0 when they opened up the game by scoring three runs in the eighth inning against the Griffs (32-12).
