The Amherst Town Board will take a break this week, with no work session or regular meeting scheduled. But the Amherst School Board will be plenty busy.
The school board will discuss and vote to adopt its 2013-14 budget at its 7 p.m. meeting Tuesday in the district offices, 55 Kings Highway.
The $49.4 million budget includes a spending increase of 3.71 percent.
The proposed tax levy totals $32.5 million, an increase of 3.77 percent.
If the budget is adopted, district taxpayers will also vote on a tax rate of $21.79 per $1,000 of assessed value, an increase of $79 on a $100,000 home.
The proposed budget uses reserve funds to offset an initial $1.8 million budget gap.
The board will also discuss the use of unused snow days and will receive an update on the Windermere building from Principal Julie Flanagan.
