BATAVIA – Genesee County will get an increase of nearly 20 percent in state funding for local streets, highways and bridges, according to State Sen. Michael H. Ranzenhofer, R-Clarence.

Under the new state budget, Genesee’s 13 towns, six villages and the City of Batavia will receive $1,674,922 in highway and street funding, an increase of $275,500.

The city will get $309,000, while the towns of Batavia, Darien, Le Roy and Pavilion will have more than $100,000 each for maintaining and improving local infrastructure.

Ranzenhofer, who said he sought the added funding, noted it was the first time in five years that local road and bridge repair projects will directly share in more funding.
