Let’s level playing field, cut federal officials’ pay

About 280 civilian employees at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station are scheduled to lose 20 percent of their take-home pay if Congress does not act on sequestration.

How many other military bases across the nation will have the same situation? How many civilian employees are involved? Why is it that when reduced pay is demanded, it always involves those on the bottom of the pay scale?

Let’s level the playing field and play fair. Let’s go to the top-income people. I suggest a 20 percent pay reduction for the following: all Congress members and their staff, the president and all of his staff, and his Cabinet and their staff. This will make everything more fair. Each time our Congress members demand something from the lower pay scale workers, it should apply to them also.
