Catholics care deeply about church, new pope

A recent News article asks: “Do Catholics care who fills Peter’s chair?” Well this Catholic certainly does.

The philosophies of the day seem to be individualism, hedonism, relativism and minimalism. Their effects can be seen in the constant barrage of depressing news. Contrast this despair with the beauty and joy a life filled with God’s grace offers. Instead of looking at the Catholic faith from the perspective of a few hot-button issues, start from the other end, recognizing the most basic gifts of faith, hope and love, with the greatest of these being love.

This is a blessed, exciting time for the church. The popes in my lifetime have all been saint-like people and I for one can’t wait to learn about the newest rock upon which the Catholic Church is built.
