The Ride for Roswell, Roswell Park Cancer Institute’s largest fundraiser, named the following co-chairmen for the 2013 Ride: Mitch Flynn, president of Flynn & Friends Advertising in Buffalo; Terry Bourgeois, knowledge management program manager for Praxair; Christine Eberle, partner/owner of Eberle-Sciandra Communications; John Hannon, partner of Triad Recycling and Energy; Christopher McNamara, an examiner for Tower Group Companies; Jonathan Olson, senior finance manager at FedEx TradeNetworks; Sally Russell; Angelo Veanes, president of Ferguson Electric; and William Wallace, director of strategic initiatives for ASHDAN Screw Machine Products.

The ride weekend begins with the opening ceremony June 21, followed by the ride June 22 at the University at Buffalo’s North Campus. The event has raised more than $20.6 million for Roswell Park Cancer Institute over the past 17 years. Last year, more than 8,300 riders and 1,750 volunteers helped raise $3.8 million for cancer research and patient-care programs at Roswell Park.

Russ Conrad, president and chief executive officer of Princeton Equity Partners of Lewiston, helped ring the NASDAQ stock exchange closing bell recently. He was helping celebrate the acquisition by American Realty Capital Properties of a nontraded real estate investment trust with a similar name, American Realty Capital Trust III (ARC III).

The Buffalo Niagara Partnership‘s coordinator of investor relations, Jennifer Lauria, received an Elite Sales and Marketing Award from Buffalo Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives.

Company Connections

Employees at Tops, AAA of Western and Central New York and Ingram Micro recently entered a weight-loss program led by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and the Amherst Chamber of Commerce. They lost an average of 5.77 pounds per employee in 12 weeks. A total of 614 employees from the three companies participated in the program and lost a collective 3,543 pounds over the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Tops won the friendly competition, with its 215 employees losing 4.56 percent of their body weight in 12 weeks. It was presented the “Lose to Win Cup.”

ClearView CRM from Amherst-based SofTrek Corp. was chosen by Volunteers of America as its nonprofit fundraising software. ClearView CRM will support Volunteers of America’s direct-mail efforts from the organization’s national headquarters in Alexandria, Va., and support giving for local affiliates in cities throughout the United States.

Yancey’s Fancy, a Pembroke-based fine artisan cheese manufacturer, was named official cheese of the Phoenix Coyotes and Jobing.com Arena after its marketing campaign in the Southwest that includes sponsorships with Phoenix International Raceway and the Auto Club Speedway in Ontario, Calif.

M&T Bank has established a $250,000 endowed fund for the new Science and Mathematics Complex on the campus of SUNY Buffalo State. The gift, distributed in $50,000 increments over five years, will go toward the repair and replacement of science equipment in the new building. The $100 million complex – a 224,000-square-foot facility with three levels – will house the chemistry, biology, earth sciences and science education, mathematics and physics departments, as well as the Great Lakes Center and a state-of-the-art planetarium.
