Applications for passports or renewals will be accepted Saturday at three local locations as part of “Passport Day in the USA 2013.”

The Tonawanda Town Clerk’s office will offer the service from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 14 at the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave. Appointments aren’t necessary.

Other participants in Erie County include the Erie County Clerk’s office at 3095 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and the Cheektowaga Town Clerk’s office, 3301 Broadway, Cheektowaga, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both locations will offer photo services.

This year’s event is focusing on family travel. “Convenient Saturday hours ensure most parents don’t have to miss work to apply for their child’s U.S. passport,” said Town Clerk Marguerite Greco.

Passport forms and a breakdown of fees are among the information available at Passport photos can be taken at the clerk’s office for a $5 fee.

Meanwhile, the federal budget sequestration means that Department of State passport agencies won’t participate in Saturday’s event.
