Despite disguise, arrest is made in checks case

Story tools:

ALFRED—A slippery thief who wore a disguise while cashing stolen checks in several different counties has been captured, Alfred police said.

Police said Ronald Rossborough, 39, of Alfred Station, stole the checks during a burglary at an Alfred Station home, then used them to buy merchandise and gift cards at numerous stores while disguising himself as a burn victim in heavy bandages.

Officers said the disguise made following the trail of stolen checks from store to store difficult. But security cameras at a Walmart store in Geneseo captured images of Rossborough without the bandages.
