Deputies say son hit father over head with hockey stick
Story tools:
Erie County sheriff’s deputies arrested a young Holland man Thursday evening after he allegedly whacked his father over the head with a hockey stick during an argument.
Erik L. Backlarz, 22, is held in the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in Colden Town Court on charges of second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, the Sheriff’s Office reports.
Deputies said they were called to a home on Center Street in Colden at about 5 p.m. for a domestic incident and found the older man injured. He was taken to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, Springville, and received stitches. The son fled at first, then returned and turned himself in, deputies said.
