Nov. 20
• William E. Carney III, 28, no address given, was charged by state police just after 3 a.m. on Robinson Road in Pendleton with driving while intoxicated after troopers said he failed to stay in his lane. His blood-alcohol level was 0.13 percent, troopers reported.
Nov. 21
• A Niagara Falls woman contacted city police after becoming involved in a likely Internet scam. Police said the 78th Street woman tried to sell a Jacuzzi on craigslist about two months ago, agreeing to a$350 price. She received a check for $3,500 from a per-son in Cairo, Egypt, who asked that the victim keep her share and return the rest of the check. The check ultimately bounced, police said.
• Witnesses told Niagara Falls police that a man arrived at a Weston Avenue home via cab, removed a 32-inch television valued at $300, then left in the cab. The victim told police the description sounds like the man he purchased the TV from some time back.
• Fire damaged a 2000 Ford belonging to a Pine Avenue man, Niagara Falls police reported. The incident occurred about 7:30 p. m. while the car was parked in a bar parking lot in the 2000 block of Ferry Avenue.
• Sheriff’s deputies responded to a burglary complaint in the Village Trailer Park on Pheasant Run Road in the Town of Lockport. A 29-year-old man told deputies that someone entered his trailer and took toys from a back room, fishing tackle and fishing equipment that were near the front door and a snow board. Total loss was estimated at $405.
Nov. 22
• Sometime overnight, someone re-moved a plastic Christmas candle decoration and a Happy Holidays sign from the front yard of a Ham Road residence in the Town of Lockport, sheriff’s deputies said.
• A woman in the 4500 block of Kayner Road in Gasport told sheriff’s deputies that someone dumped several truckloads of debris on her property during the past week. She told deputies that some wallpaper that was found in the debris looked familiar and a friend recognized it from a house that had been damaged by a fire. Deputies are investigating the matter.
• A Lakeview Park woman told sheriff’s deputies that she went for a jog along the canal path at Day and North Canal roads between 2:30 and 3:30 p. m., and when she returned her passenger side window was smashed and her purse was missing. The purse contained her bank cards, driver’s license and $10.
• Lockport police said they charged Rahsaan Dyrell Ubiles, 19, of 16th Street, Niagara Falls, with criminal impersonation, unlawful possession of marijuana and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after he was stopped just before 9 p. m. on Michigan Street. Ubiles was stopped for a warrant and gave police a false name and he was found to have marijuana in his driver’s side compartment, police said. They said his license had been suspended.
• A Royal Avenue woman refused treatment after being punched in the forehead by her husband, Niagara Falls police said. The couple’s three children broke up the altercation, after which the husband left the home.
Nov. 23
• A 65-year-old man in the 7200 block of Townline Road in Wheatfield told sheriff’s deputies that a digital camera, valued at $200, was stolen from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in his driveway overnight.
• John Bianco, 38, of Graham Road, Middleport, who is employed by Anastasi Construction, was working just after 8 a.m. on a trench in the construction site that is to become Yahoo!, when his foot got caught on a piece of rebar and he fell and injured his shoulder and back. South Lockport Emergency was called to the scene, and Bianco was taken to the emergency room to be treated for his injuries, authorities said.
Nov. 24
• The owner of Taco Bell and Kentucky Fried Chicken in Niagara County told sheriff’s deputies that the restaurant received a recent statement with 52 false checks, including some made out with Burger King logos, which they don’t even own. The employees paid do not work for them, they told deputies. The total in forged checks is $13,727.04 and was paid in the month of September. An investigation was launched.
• A security manager at Sears in Wheatfield told sheriff’s deputies that an employee stole a scarf while she was working two days ago. The employee was supposed to meet with the manager and did not show up, he told deputies, and is also suspected for possibly stealing $1,500 from the cash register.
• A 17-year-old Lyndonville boy was charged with menacing by sheriff’s deputies at the Board of Cooperative Educational Services on Saunders Settlement Road in Sanborn. He reportedly pulled a knife on a 16-year-old while they were in auto shop class and threatened the other student.
Nov. 25
• Jonathan B. Dubuc, 23, of Pierce Avenue, Niagara Falls was charged by city police with fourth-degree criminal mischief after officers said he damaged a door to a city jail cell during his incarceration.
• Tyrone P. Hilson Sr., 37, was arrested at 11:43 p. m. at First Street and Rainbow Boulevard, Niagara Falls police said. The Lockport resident was charged with driving while intoxicated, making an unsafe lane change and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.
• State police charged Robert Jasinski Jr., 23, of Crestwood Drive, Lockport, with third-degree burglary. He is accused of entering a shed in the Woodlands Trailer Park, removing bicycles, urinating in the homeowner’s freezer and then unplugging the freezer to cause the contents to spoil, troopers said.
• Town of Niagara police charged Roquel Hunter, 36, of Wyoming Avenue, Buffalo, with petit larceny and accused Hunter of shoplifting $700 worth of merchandise from Marshalls.
Nov. 26
• An intoxicated 19-year-old woman told Niagara Falls police she was assaulted by another woman at a Third Street nightclub about 12:30 a. m. The victim said she was punched in the head four or five times, resulting in minor injuries. She was advised to seek an arrest warrant.
• Salvatore Santa Lucia, 46, was arrested at 1:52 a. m. at 19th Street and Walnut Avenue, Niagara Falls police reported. The Amherst resident was clocked driving 48 mph in a 30-mph zone, police said, and was charged with speeding, unlicensed operation and felony and misdemeanor counts of DWI. Police said Santa Lucia had a blood-alcohol level of 0.35 percent, more than four times the legal limit.
• A 21-year-old Whitney Avenue woman suffered cuts to her face when she was struck by flying pieces of broken glass shortly after 3 a.m., Niagara Falls police said. Police said the woman had argued with her aunt, causing the aunt to throw a glass vase at her. The victim’s injuries were not serious.
• Sometime prior to 5 p.m.,a pair of guns were stolen from a Lockport-Olcott Road home in Newfane, sheriff’s deputies said. Taken were a .22-caliber assault rifle and a 20-gauge shotgun. The guns were valued at $950.
• Richard A. Andres, 27, of Potomac Avenue, Buffalo, was charged at 1:40 a. m. on Chestnut Street by Lockport police with driving while intoxicated, having an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle and failure to keep right. Andres was seen crossing into the oncoming lane and then onto the curb, flattening his tire. Police said he refused a sobriety test but showed strong signs of being intoxicated. Andres complained of having trouble breathing, was taken to the hospital, and while there, police said, his blood was drawn.
• A Lockport woman told city police that the driver’s side window in her 2002 Saturn was damaged overnight on Walnut Street, and a global positioning system, iPod, flashlight and Christmas decorations were stolen. Loss and damage was estimated at $632.
Nov. 27
• For a second time, someone tried to break into Austin’s Pizza on State Street in Gasport by prying open a side door. A similar unsuccessful attempt was made a few weeks ago.
• A Brantford, Ont., woman told Niagara Falls police that she left her vehicle parked for an hour at a restaurant on Niagara Falls Boulevard, and when she returned at 3 p.m. she found her door lock broken and $1,400,a game system and six games, a global positioning system, digital camera and cell phone stolen. Total loss estimated at $3,460.
Nov. 28
• Patricia G. McKenzie, 57, of 66th Street, Niagara Falls, was charged with driving while intoxicated after her vehicle collided with another vehicle in a parking lot on Niagara Falls Boulevard, Niagara Falls police reported. The incident happened at about 11:20 p. m. behind Dollar General, 8735 Niagara Falls Blvd., city police reported. McKenzie also was charged with failing to signal and making an improper turn.
• A Rochester woman was charged with disorderly conduct after she blocked traffic and swore at a police officer near Main and Fourth streets in Niagara Falls, city police said. Shawn E. Perry, 41, also was charged with driving with a suspended registration and driving without insurance. • A 23-year-old Rochester woman was assaulted inside a Fourth Street residence but would not cooperate with investigators, Niagara Falls police said. She needed five stitches to close a wound to her right arm at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, police said.
• Two cars were broken into in the driveway of a 32nd Street home sometime between 1 and 9 a.m., Niagara Falls police said. About $5 in change was stolen from the ash tray of one vehicle.
• Someone slashed a tire on a car parked at a Stevenson Court home in Wheatfield sometime during the morning hours, sheriff’s deputies said. Damage was listed at $200.
• A store manager told Lockport police that a man wearing a dark jacket came into the store at 5:30 a. m. in the 500 block of Davison Road and jumped over the counter and took four or five packs of cigarettes, then exited by forcing open the locked side of the glass door, until it broke. Loss and damage was pegged at $330. Security video was turned over to police.
Nov. 29
• A Niagara Falls resident said he saw someone inside his car at 3:40
a. m., while it was parked outside his apartment building on the 2100 block of Main Street, Niagara Falls police reported. The man said 40 painkillers and $10 in coins were taken from inside the vehicle.
• Brandon Lee Cogar, 19, of 4120 Lake Ave., Town of Lockport, was charged by sheriff’s deputies with unlawfully dealing with a child after deputies investigated a party at Cogar’s home just before 1:30 a. m. and found 30 underaged youths and beer in the residence. Deputies said no parents were in the home and two bags of marijuana also were confiscated.
• Courtney L. Carnes, 18, of High Street, Lockport, was charged by sheriff’s deputies with petit larceny in Walmart on South Transit Road at 6 p. m. An assistant manager told deputies that Carnes took a vinyl air bed from a store shelf and left the store.
Nov. 30
• A woman who went into a rest-room with a personal item in her pocket and came out empty handed was charged when the empty box was found in the bathroom, sheriff’s deputies said. Brittany L. Doyle, 19, of Whitney Avenue, Niagara Falls, was charged with petit larceny just after 6 p. m. in the Rite Aid on Ransomville Road in Ransomville. She also was charged with second-degree harassment after denying she took anything and reportedly shoving a store supervisor.
Dec. 1
• Derrick L. Tyson, 24, of Linwood Drive, Niagara Falls, was charged by Lockport police on a warrant for petit larceny. Tyson had been charged in April on drug charges and aggravated unlicensed operation. Due to a clerical error, police said, Tyson was overpaid by the city $100 from his remaining bail fund when he paid his fine, but never returned the money. When Tyson violated his probation in September, a warrant was issued and Tyson also was charged with petit larceny for not repaying the city, according to reports.
• Randy H. Dowling, of Gregory Lane, Wheatfield, was stopped at 12:20 a. m. and charged by sheriff’s deputies with driving while intoxicated and speeding on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Wheatfield, reports said.
Dec. 2
• Timothy Buncy, 57, of Balmer Road, Youngstown, was stopped by sheriff’s deputies on Hyde Park Boulevard near Witmer Road in the Town of Niagara just after midnight and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia and failure to keep right. Buncy passed field sobriety tests, but when asked if he had anything illegal on him, he said he had crack cocaine in a cigarette box and a pipe, and he “knew that being honest with you is the best policy and you might treat me right for that,” according to reports. He subsequently was charged and issued an appearance ticket.
• A 29-year-old A Street woman told Niagara Falls police that someone used a blunt object to smash the windshield and slash a tire overnight on a 1995 Chrysler New Yorker. Damage was listed at $600.
• A woman told Niagara Falls police that she went for tests at a medical center in the 1400 block of Pine Avenue just after 10:30 a. m., and left her wallet on the arm of a chair in the examining room for part of time. When she returned, the wallet was gone. Loss was listed at $200.
• State police charged Andrew B. Hodur, 21, of Birchwood Drive, Lockport, with second-and third-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny. Police said Hodur broke into a residence on Lockwood Drive and a shed on Birchwood in the Woodland Trailer Park in July.
• Marcus A. Townsend, 27, of Pine Street, Lockport, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped on Lincoln Avenue in the Town of Lockport and found to have an outstanding felony warrant. He gave a false name and was charged by sheriff’s deputies with false personation and on the warrant with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, according to reports.
• An 80th Street woman told Niagara Falls police she returned unknown checks for $4,850 and found charges to the U. S. Postal Service to her credit card that she did not authorize totaling $494.13. She said the bank credited her account.
Dec. 3
• Thomas F. Ryan, 44, of West Center Street, Medina, was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana after a traffic stop on Transit Road in the Town of Lockport, state police said. Ryan was pulled over for driving without a seat belt, and he was found with 33 grams of pot, police said. He was given an appearance ticket for Lockport Town Court.
• Michael F. Buttitta, 37, of Fisk Road, Pendleton, was stopped at 2:37 a. m. on Dunnigan Road and charged by sheriff’s deputies with driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of marijuana. Buttitta admitted he had been drinking and smoking marijuana, and was found with a small bag of marijuana, deputies said.
Dec. 4
• A man moving out of a Cudaback Avenue apartment told Niagara Falls police that someone broke into the place sometime during the past two days and stole two video game consoles and several game cartridges, as well as a DVD player, some DVDs and some prescription medications. A rear window was used to gain entry to the home. Loss was set at $580.
Dec. 5
• A digital camera valued at $300 was stolen from a Forest Avenue woman’s car sometime overnight, Niagara Falls police said.
• Niagara Falls police responded to the scene of a large street fight in the 700 block of Eighth Street at 3:38 a. m., and found a traumatized woman whose car had been severely damaged. Police said almost $2,000 worth of damage was done to the woman’s car when a group of people became upset with her and took tree limbs and barbecue grills to her vehicle, breaking windows and windshields. The woman had been evicted from a nearby house party earlier, police said, precipitating the attack. Police were continuing to investigate.
