Bills notebook: Receivers coach Tolbert headed to LSU

Buffalo Bills wide receivers coach Tyke Tolbert has been hired for a similar position at LSU, according to a report Thursday on neworleans.com. Tolbert declined to comment when asked about the report.
Tolbert played at LSU as a wide receiver from 1988-90. He's had several different coaching stints on the college level, including Louisiana-Monroe, Ohio University, Auburn, Louisiana-Lafayette and Florida.
In the NFL, Tolbert served as wide receivers coach with the Detroit Lions in 1997 and with Arizona in 2003 before moving to his current position in Buffalo in 2004. He is a native of Conroe, Texas.
Tolbert replaces wide receivers coach D.J. McCarthy, who resigned from the staff due to potential NCAA rules infractions.
The players who didn't participate in practice Thursday were defensive end Chris Kelsay (personal) and wide receiver Justin Jenkins (knee). Participating on a limited basis were safeties Jairus Byrd (groin) and Todd Johnson (hamstring), tackle Kirk Chambers (ankle), defense end Ryan Denney (shoulder), linebacker Chris Draft (neck) and tight end Shawn Nelson (shoulder).
Defensive tackle John McCargo (calf) and cornerback Ashton Youboty (ankle) practiced fully. Also, cornerback Terrence McGee has participated fully in back-to-back practices.
McGee was active but limited in the Bills' last game against the New York Jets. He missed the previous three games because of a knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery during the bye week. He didn't start against the Jets as Reggie Corner began the game.
"It looks good, he's practicing, looks well and he's got confidence," Bills coach Perry Fewell said of McGee. "This could be the week."
The Kansas City Chiefs will ask the NFL for a 24-hour extension to sell the remaining tickets for Sunday's game against the Bills, the Kansas City Star reported Thursday afternoon.
At mid-week, the game was 3,500 tickets short of a sellout. By NFL rules, the game must be declared a sellout 72 hours in advance of kickoff. The Chiefs have until 1 p.m. today to avoid the television blackout within a 75-mile radius of the city.
The Chiefs have played 155 regular-season games without a blackout, dating to the final home game of the 1990 season. Next Sunday's final home game of the season against Cleveland also is in jeopardy of not selling out.
While their teammates practiced inside the Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse, kicker Rian Lindell, punter Brian Moorman and long snapper Garrison Sanborn practiced outside during the snowstorm with special teams coach Bobby April.
Moorman didn't seem too pleased about the prospect of practicing punts in drifting snow, but April told him smiling, "You're not at Pittsburg State anymore."
It was 24 degrees and sunny in Pittsburg, Kan., on Thursday.
Wideout Terrell Owens is hosting a holiday party for 81 Buffalo-area families from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the fieldhouse. There will be inflatable games, face painters and dinner among other activities.
The money raised from his birthday party last Monday in New York City finances this event that is supported by his Catch a Dream Foundation, which helps families in need.
