CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE:Old Fort Niagara’s French Castle is a beautiful place to be during the holidays. This season, the fort off the northern end of the Robert Moses Parkway in Youngstown hosts “Firing of the Christmas Guns,” featuring colorful characters in historical vignettes from the 18th century, traditional decorations and a dramatic nighttime discharge of muskets, at 7 p. m. Friday and Saturday, and Dec. 18 and 19. Tickets are $8 and available at the door. Bring a flashlight.

TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY: Niagara Hospice will hold is annual Light-A-Life Memorial Tree Lighting Ceremony at 1 p. m., Wheatfield Community Center, 2790 Church Road.
