Review:

Bills exhibit puts fans in the action

Story tools:

Players have said that Buffalo Bills fans are among the best in the country. For the Bills’ 50th season, the Buffalo &

Erie County Historical Society has set up an exhibit that has displays about the team’s history.

Most of the items in the exhibit were donated from super-fan Greg Tranter’s collection.

This exhibit gives teenagers who haven’t seen a great Bills team an idea of the teams of old and why Buffalo loves the Bills so much.

There are many informative and fun things to do in the exhibit. There is a brief summary of every Bills season along with memorabilia and equipment from different eras.

A poster describes Bills owner Ralph C. Wilson’s Medical Research Foundation and how he has donated money to research in many medical fields.

A locker room display features items about several prominent Bills figures and memorabilia associated with them, including Cookie Gilchrist, Joe DeLamielleure and Thurman Thomas.

In one attraction, there is a Webcam connected to a computer on which you can watch yourself giving a report of a Bills win. Or with a friend, you can interview Terrell Owens, using scripts that were used by WKBW-TV, Channel 7.

A large TV plays the original broadcast of the “Comeback

Game,” when the Bills overcame a 32-point deficit to defeat the Houston Oilers, 41-38, in the wildcard playoff game.

An amusing display is a 3-D representation by John Reardon of a pass from quarterback Jim Kelly to receiver Bill Brooks in a game against the Miami Dolphins in 1995. The amusing part about it is that the players were made using peanuts!

The Buffalo Bills exhibit is very entertaining and informative and will run until Feb. 7. The museum is open from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Tuesday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p. m. on Sundays. For more information, visit www.bechs.org.
