Don’t attack whole town for comments by board
Story tools:
I am writing in response to the unfair bashing of Orchard Park. I am not defending the actions of the Town Board, which turned down a proposal for affordable senior housing. However, I am defending my town.
I took offense to the newspaper referring to Orchard Park as elitist and full of snobbery. I have never encountered this. I grew up in Orchard Park, left for 10 years and decided to move back to Orchard Park because it was such a wonderful place to live. It offers great community activities and is very family-oriented.
I was also disturbed that the paper insinuated that Orchard Park is discriminatory. As a parent of mixed-race children, I understand that Orchard Park needs more diversity. However, don’t most suburbs need more diversity? I am upset because the newspaper attacked the entire town instead of attacking the decision made by the Town Board. I have no problem with the newspaper questioning the actions of the Town Board. However, to attack an entire town is completely unjust.
