State is just bleeding students for money

Story tools:

Students are not here to fix a botched government and supplement the state’s income.Gov. David Paterson is on the verge of slashing educational spending. In addition, Assemblyman Sam Hoyt suggests annual tuition increases for the State University of New York. It is disgusting that our government is proposing spending less on education while charging students more for it.

Students were already forced to bear the brunt of a state budget imbroglio through a mid-semester SUNY tuition hike in fall 2008. The cost of being a student is already high enough. Now the state sees students as a ripe, low-hanging fruit that is easily picked in order to provide relief from the budget crisis.

Most students don’t have adequate health care, work at least one job while going to school, are grossly underpaid and volunteer or intern somewhere for no pay. Can’t Paterson see that the student well is already dry?
