Erie County Executive Chris Collins has set a public hearing on a Legislatureapproved law to ban texting while driving.
The hearing will be at 10 a. m. Nov. 18 on the 16th floor of the Rath County Office Building.
On Oct. 22, the Legislature unanimously approved a measure that would allow police and sheriff’s deputies in Erie County to stop and ticket anyone they see reading or sending e-mails, text messages or Twitter messages while operating a motor vehicle.
Collins has said he supports the law but must first hold a public hearing before signing it.
