The News' football writers assign grades for different aspects of the game:
Grading the Bills
Running game
Had 145 yards, but 40 came on Edwards scrambles. Jackson had just 30 yards on 13 carries; he hasn't responded well to Lynch's return. Grade: C.
Passing game
Capt. Checkdown Edwards was 16 of 31 for 152 yards against worst defense in NFL. Only three completions went for 10 yards or more. Grade: F.
Run defense
Gave up 171 yards, an improvement after 472 yards in two weeks. Lewis had 117 yards, but Bills made big stops and didn't allow a touchdown. Grade: C.
Pass defense
Anderson went 2 of 17 for 23 yards, which might be worst passing game ever by a winning quarterback. Nice pick by rookie Byrd. Grade: A+.
Special teams
Parrish's late fumble was as bad as McKelvin's gaffe in New England. If Bobby April is so great, how come his teams keep messing up? Grade: D.
Coaching
Hard to come up with anything original at this point. Thirteen penalties is an indictment of Jauron and his coaching staff. Grade: F.
Grading the Browns
Running game
Lewis had 117 yards in 31 carries, pretty good in first game back. Harrison did little after his breakout game a week ago. Grade: B-.
Passing game
How long until Mangini goes back to Brady Quinn? Anderson inept against crippled Buffalo secondary. Think they miss Braylon Edwards? Grade: F.
Run defense
Did good job of gang-tackling Lynch. Best job anyone has done on Jackson all year. Getting D'Qwell Jackson back at linebacker was big. Grade: B.
Pass defense
Allowed Owens to get free early, but shut down Evans and allowed only three passes of 10 yards or more. Got good pressure with three. Grade: A.
Special teams
Zastudil was Player of the Game (someone had to be). He pinned Bills inside their 20-yard line seven times, including three inside the 5. Grade: A-.
Coaching
Browns are a bad team and looked it. But they had a solid, if obvious, game plan for Edwards and won for the first time this season. Grade: B+.
