Prayer services seek an end to street violence

A group of churches and a human service organization will hold prayer services today as a way to promote healing from street violence in the community.
The services, sponsored by VOICE-Buffalo and other area groups, began Thursday at Catholic Charities.
Services today are as follows: 7 p. m. at Edison Baptist Church, 28 Edison St.; 7 p. m. at Our Lady of Hope Parish at Annunciation Church, 241 Lafayette St.; 7 p. m. at St. Joseph University Church, 3269 Main St.; 7 p. m. at St. Lawrence Church, 1520 Delavan Avenue; 6:30 p. m. at St. Martin de Porres Church, 55 Northampton St.; and 7:30 p. m. at Hamburg United Methodist Church, 116 Union St., Hamburg.
The groups also will come together from 10 a. m. to 11:30 a. m. Saturday for a countywide rally, “Standing Against Violence,” outside Buffalo’s City Hall.
