Accused shoplifter arrested after struggle
Story tools:
A skirmish Saturday afternoon between a Buffalo man accused of shoplifting and an Elmwood Avenue store security guard led to a broken glass door and an arrest.
William D. Nix, 48, was charged with petit larceny and third-degree criminal mischief following the incident at the Rite Aid at 424 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo police said.
A store security guard told police he saw Nix try to shoplift a 40-count bottle of Advil and a can of Spam at about 4 p. m.
When the guard confronted him, Nix allegedly fought him and in a struggle, broke the store’s front entrance door, police said.
