Motorist pleads guilty to striking three vehicles

LITTLEVALLEY— Kelsey E. Layfield, 19, of Olean, will be sentenced Oct. 19 in Cattaraugus County Court after pleading guilty Monday to reckless endangerment, reckless driving and endangering the welfare of a 2- year-old child Nov. 6 in the Town of Portville.
While driving east on Route 417, she crossed into the opposing lane, hit two vehicles, one with the child, and hit another vehicle head-on.
In unrelated court action, District Attorney Edward M. Sharkey said Ronald Soto, 23, no address known, pleaded guilty to attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance, cocaine, near school grounds Dec. 3 in the City of Olean. He will be sentenced Nov. 16.
Kimberly A. Dowdy, 37, of Steamburg, was sentenced to five years probation and fined $2,000 for her conviction of driving while intoxicated Oct. 29 in the Town of Randolph.
